Delegational Travel to Bulgaria shows high potential for cooperation

Leipzig’s Cluster for Energy and Environmental Engineering further strengthens its international network. During a trip to Bulgaria from 5th to 8th July 2015 a delegation – consisting of representatives of industry, cluster management and research – prepared joint development projects with the Energy Agency of Plovdiv. Bulgaria shows a ca. 20 % share of fluctuating solar and wind electricity in the grid and faces similar challenges in the field of grid management to Germany.

Leipzig Fraunhofer Center appears with a new livery

Leipzig Fraunhofer Center for International Management and Knowledge Economy comes with a new name, an expanded service portfolio, a new symposium and its own Big Data Center

An information session on the strategic realignment of the Leipzig Fraunhofer Center on July 2nd 2015 gave insight into the expanded service portfolio of the institution which is now operating under the new name “Fraunhofer Center for International Management and Knowledge Economy”. The event also marked the official launch of the institute’s very own Big Data Center and gave the opportunity to introduce the first Fraunhofer Symposium on International Management and Knowledge Economy. Some 200 participants, comprising Fraunhofer experts as well as guests from the spheres of business, academia and politics came together in order to discuss the current state of applied economics research.

EU-funded SECTOR-project successfully concluded

The future of torrefaction has been discussed in detail on 6th May 2015 at the final meeting of the EU-funded project “SECTOR”. The aim of the more than 20 partners from industry and science was the further development and market introduction of torrefaction-based technologies and torrefied biomass. “The SECTOR-consortium has done a very good job and has been able to demonstrate that torrefied biomass has a promising future concerning an energetic as well as a material usage”, recognizes Prof. Dr. Daniela Thrän who has been coordinating the research work during the last three and a half years.

Conference „Energy Cluster meets Science“ fosters transfer of innovation and technology

Event was successfully carried out for the 5th time in Leipzig

On 23rd June 2015 Leipzig’s network for energy and environmental technology (NEU) brought science and economy together at the 5th edition of the conference “Energy Cluster meets Science”. Taking place at the University of Leipzig, a selection of speakers from Leipzig’s main research institutions presented innovative and practical relevant research projects from their fields of study in order to inform and find suitable business partners from the region.

Delegation from Leipzig visits TREC-Danube partner in Bulgaria

Meeting in Plovdiv from 5th to 8th July 2015

Within the scope of the TREC-Danube project a delegation from Leipzig is travelling to Bulgaria from 5th to 8th July 2015. The delegation comprises members and partners of Leipzig’s Network for Energy and Environmental Technology (NEU e. V.), among them companies from the field of solar energy and geographic information systems (GIS). Travelling members will meet at the Energy Agency of Plovdiv in order to strenghten relationships, build up new business ties and develop new projects.
